assistance in recovery Air

Since its inception in 2002, AiR has grown to become the leading provider of clinical behavioral health consultations, interventions and case management throughout the world.  AiR’s staff of expert clinicians is the most experienced and knowledgeable team working in the field today. All of the information families need regarding what to do, where to go and how to maintain sustainable recovery, is available through AiR.

The intervention approach used by AiR is based on the Johnson Model of Intervention developed by the late Dr. Vernon Johnson in Minnesota in the 1960s.  This technique has been used effectively since that time to move people away from destructive behavior and toward health and stability. (Using a caring and direct approach-with the help of a highly skilled professional- this model seeks to break through the wall of denial surrounding a loved one by presenting the positive option to pursue recovery with support, as well as the negative consequences of refusal to accept help.)  AiR President and founder Andrew Wainwright was trained by Dr. Johnson’s direct successor Dr. James Fearing at National Counseling Intervention Services in Minneapolis. Andrew worked for Dr. Fearing from 1997 until his death in 2002. After Dr. Fearing’s death, Andrew founded AiR to continue the work of these pioneers, as well as to expand the clinical services available to families  adding plans for ongoing counseling, education and advocacy.

During the 10 years since its founding, AiR has helped families manage, treat and recover from every form of behavioral health illness. AiR’s experts have worked hard to create services to meet the needs of its clients where none existed before. To this end, AiR’s Recovery Management Services provides continued support, mentoring and accountability for patients and families after treatment. The groundbreaking Recovery Assistance Program(RAP), a continuing care case management program which provides ongoing guidance, support and advocacy, has given AiR’s clients a long term recovery success rate of over 80%.  This program is now the international model for behavioral health case management.

Consultation, intervention, support, education and advocacy– these are the essentials of the proven longstanding success of AiR in ushering families toward a whole, healthy future.
