For the millions affected by behavioral health illnesses, the tasks of identifying, understanding and treating these conditions present significant challenges. Too often these challenges prove to be overwhelming and the opportunities of treatment and recovery are postponed or missed entirely. At Assistance in Recovery (AiR), the implementation of case management has proven to significantly improve outcomes for our clients. This increase is a result of consistent support for the family or organization and ongoing advocacy and appropriate clinical support for the individual.
AiR has become the leading provider of behavioral health consulting since its inception in 2002. By focusing its attention on treating addiction, eating disorders, and mental health issues as chronic conditions, AiR dramatically improves the lives of countless clients and produces a recovery rate of over 80 percent.

AiR’s programs follow Dr. Vernon Johnson, the pioneer of addiction intervention and the creator of the Johnson Model of intervention. This model stresses the need to break through the denial harbored by most who suffer from addiction. By confronting the individual and promoting the positive outcomes of treatment while explaining the negative consequences of refusal, they are able to make an informed decision regarding the disease.
The 1990’s saw the rise of Dr. Johnson’s successor Dr. James Fearing, who began National Counseling Intervention Services (NCIS) in Minneapolis, MN with the goal of educating families about addiction and providing national intervention training. NCIS was the nation’s leading intervention training source until Dr. Fearing’s death in 2002.
Employed and trained by Dr. Fearing as an interventionist in the mid nineties, Andrew Wainwright created AiR in 2002 with the same goal of education and help for those affected by addiction.
Over the last seven years, AiR has become the nation’s leading behavioral health consulting company providing consulting, intervention, and recovery management services in all 50 states and around the world.
