Emily Pesek graduated with her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. During this time she began her professional career at Lakeview Hospice in Stillwater, MN where she provided counseling for the terminally ill and their families. While working in hospice, Emily was able to gain a greater understanding of pain medication and how it influences the mind and body.

Emily went on to receive her Masters in clinical social work at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. While working on her masters, Emily moved on to mental health case management with homeless and at-risk youth at Project OffStreets in Minneapolis, MN. For the last three years she has been counseling and educating adolescents on their mental health issues, chemical dependency, education, and housing. This led her to write her thesis on the triggers of violence for homeless youth with an emphasis on chemical dependency. During this time she also completed an internship at Teenage Medical Services where she provided therapy to adolescents attending Southwest High School in Minneapolis, MN.

Emily is currently working towards her LICSW at AiR. Through her work at AiR as a Recovery Assistance Coordinator, Emily will bring to light her knowledge of mental health and chemical dependency.
